Bragova A.M. Cicero’s concept of a ruler

The article presents the analysis of Cicero’s concept of a ruler and his duties. The work contains a linguistic and textual examination of the terms denoting a ruler used by Cicero. Character features and qualities of an ideal ruler are also presented in the research. There is a review of duties of an ideal ruler. There are some conclusions about existence of such a ruler in Cicero’s times.

Mamedov Z.I. “Hizmet” movement assessed by Russian media

The article analyses the articles from periodicals – the governmental newspaper “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, the moderate and liberal newspaper “Izvestiya”, and the popular analytical magazine “Expert” – on the topic of the Turkish movement of “Hizmet” activity. During the research the author studies the “Hizmet's” image in the Russian newspaper and the development of forming the public opinion about it.

Gerashchenko I.G. Philosophical, pedagogical and sociological conception of A.A. Zinoviev

The paper focuses on A.A. Zinoviev's philosophical and pedagogical conception within his sociological doctrine. The author analyses communality of the educational process, the mechanism of pedagogical stuff functioning as well as relations within a “communal cell” and the ideological element of contemporary Russian education.

Pavenkov O.V., Rubtsova M.V. Religiosity and value system of young lecturers: qualitative research data

This article analyses the Orthodox religion as a factor of formation of spiritual and value system of young teachers. Young lecturers belong to the socio-demographic group of 20 to 35 years involved mainly in teaching and research activities. The article presents the results of a qualitative study of value system of 23 informants. The study showed that the system of values of informants is characterized by syncretism. Almost all the informants are religious, but religiosity is differently ranked in their value system. Religiosity is often in a latent form.

Shmanko O.V. Transformation of value system of the Ukrainian youth

The article identifies the trends in development of the Ukrainian youth’s value system in transit Ukrainian society. The author also reveals that in present conditions, when post-Soviet stereotypes have not gone back and the new European standards are not yet firmly established, there is danger of alienation value and filling this gap with negative elements. At the same time the course of studies marked a tendency to increase the civic awareness of the younger generation, patriotism, tolerance, respect for freedoms and rights.

Balakhtar V.V. Implementation mechanisms of manipulative influence on the formation of the civic position of a specialist in a social sphere

The article analyses the main idea of the concepts “civic consciousness”, “civic position” and “manipulation”. The author revises understanding of citizenship in political, social, psychological, and pedagogical citizenship approaches. The mechanisms of realization of manipulative influence of the formation of civic identity are viewed as persuasion, suggestion, infection, motivation to follow, adherence, requests, destructive criticism, neglect, manipulation, coercion, authorization, reposition, etc.

Mukhametov R.S. Political processes in the Sverdlovsk region under the Governor E. Kuivashev

The research is devoted to the political life of the Middle Urals. The author identifies several political processes taking place in the Sverdlovsk region under the Governor E. Kuivashev. The paper reveals the municipal policy of Sverdlovsk authorities. The author presents the detailed description of the reaction of municipal authorities in the reform of the local self-governing.

Havryliuk S.I. Information and manipulative techniques as a part of the process of legitimation of political power in Ukraine: an attempt to analyze

The author of the article attempts to analyse the impact of information and manipulative technologies in the process of legitimation of the political power in Ukraine. It is proved that implemented information-manipulative technologies are the key factors of political legitimation and influence the political behaviour of citizens. The article analyses relationship between the applied information and manipulative technologies and perception of political reality of citizens, their political behaviour, electoral results. The necessity of changing the paradigm of legitimacy achieve of political actors in Ukraine is substantiated because of the refusal of politicians, technologists, media (and their owners) from destructive legitimation technologies based on the use of information and manipulation technologies. It revealed the importance of a joint search for the subjects of democratic policy instruments of political consolidation of the Ukrainian society.

Karmaliuk S.P. The influence of globalization on the national identity formation and the new strategies of the Ukrainian youth behaviour

The article deals with the problem of the national identity and the new strategy of the Ukrainian youth behaviour in the context of the processes of globalization. The author analysed the problem whether young people, including Ukrainian, are ready for the global changes influence; whether they are able to preserve the youth’s national identity and national culture. The article also discovers the effect of mass media on the important problems of public life. It is proved that mass media contribute the consolidation (the merge) of the national cultures into the regional and the gradual formation of the global culture.

VasylyevY.V. Goal orientation of the personality: characteristic of goals and lifecycles

The article gives a review to the questions of the goal orientation of the personality, examines the problems of the goals’ functions from the position of the orientation. The author identifies the factors of personality which provide functioning of the goals, describes the structure of personality through the prism of the goal orientation. There is also a suggested periodization of macro and micro cycles of the human’s life journey.

Kanevskiy V.I. Parasuicidal behavior through the lenses of the future-real psychology

The future-real psychology focuses on the orientation of the individual in respect of the future time based on the situation of the present time. The future-real psychology suggests studying the future through the goal orientation where an operational component is the goal. The goals can be “close perspective”, “medium perspective” and “long perspective”. Parasuicidal individuals are characterized by “close perspective” goals in comparison with those who do not have a wish to commit a suicide because they follow the long perspective goals.

The article analyses conceptions of intrapersonal conflict (IPC), identifies psychological characteristics of their manifestation and impact on an individual’s psychological health and professional development. The author reveals and analyses the psychoanalytic school’s views on the nature of IPC in. understanding the causes of inconsistencies between a person’s internal and external worlds we can both predict the occurrence of stress and crisis and prevent numerous conflicts.

Astremska I.V. A social institution supervisor’s professional establishment

The article covers the problem of а social sphere supervisor’s professional establishment. It is proven that professionalconsciousness (professional self-conception) includes one's image about themselves as a member of a professional community. These mindsets are proved to include characteristics that determine one's success – professionally important qualities (individual psychological qualities and personal relations). There are defined five criteria psychological preparation development of an educator, a psychologist and a psychology lecturer of a Pedagogical University in a system of continuous education, which are also important for the supervisor’s professional establishment. The basic approaches and models are outlined on defining professionally important personal qualities for a social institution supervisor.

Venediktov V.Y. On the problem of ethnophyletism: a historical study. Part II

The Holy and Great Council on Crete, 2016 has risen an important issue of Ethnophyletism. Russian, Georgian, Bulgarian, and Antiochian Orthodox Churches delegations were not present at the Great Council and were criticized for Ethnophyletism at the plenary session. The heresy of ethnophyletism was announced by the Council of Constantinople in 1872. Now we can see that it became essential nowadays. The article tells about the origin of this heresy and whether the Ethnophyletism may be decided to be the heresy. The second part of the paper deals with the events on the eve of the Pan-Orthodox Synod in 1872 (since the manifestation of the famous Abdülaziz Sultan's Firman 1870).

Pulkin M.V. The Orthodox parish as a mnemonic community (on the materials of the European North of Russia)

The article deals with the main regularities of the memory of the faithful. We revealed specific features that distinguish the memory of the believers from other types of collective memory. Presented memory levels are associated with both the daily life, and with the professional activities of the clergy. It was established that the existence of believers’ memory is not without contradictions, related to the written and oral memory of being, as well as attempts to modify memory based on the current situation.

Efimov V.F., Nikolsky E.V. Methods, forms and means of forming the religious literacy among the students

The article discusses the range of problems related to the formation of religious literacy among the students. The author specifically notes that this aspect is formed in an ideological key and includes understanding of the nature and typology of religions, their historical origins and current status, and the presence of tolerance towards persons with different beliefs, and ability to fruitful (without violence to conscience someone) coexistence and social interaction. To achieve this purpose the article presents and uses the described methodological tools.

Vikyrchak I.O. The figure of the mother in the English poetry by Rose Auslander

The article describes the English poetry of a well-known German-language poet Rose Auslander. Through the example of three poems from the English-language book “The Forbidden Tree” the article analyses the figure of the mother. The English poetry belongs to the third period of Auslander's writing; it was also post-traumatic period in her life: experiences of Chernivtsi ghetto and the death of her mother left a deep scar in the soul of the poetess and caused the change of the language in the poet’s creativity. The search of the contact with her mother through the poetry – despair, hope for the reunion with her native German language, and with Bukovina are the main motifs accompanying the figure of the mother in Auslander's poetry of this period.

Sukhareva S.V. The Virgin Mary motives in polish sermons of the 17th century

The article analyses the Virgin Mary motives in Fabiyan Birkovskyi, Yoanykiy Halyatovskyi, Lazarus Baranovych and other Baroque writers’ works. The article defines the main conceptual means of the Virgin Mary themes representation. The attention is drawn to the eastern and western schools of Marian literature. The role of the Virgin Mary’s image in the military, political and polemical prose is underlined. The value of biblical hermeneutics in the Virgin Mary sermons shaping is examined.

Khrabrova V.E. On using verbs appropriately in academic English writing

The article is concerned with English action verbs as key elements of academic English writing. Due to cognitive and semantic characteristics, verbs in the predicate function, by contrast with deverbative suffixal nouns and adjectives as parts of nominal predicates, convey the meaning of written message more concisely. The article is provided with verb classifications aimed at systematizing the information about verbs and developing a conscious approach to choosing verbs in the writing process. Syntactic transformation, limitation of passive voice forms, substitution of action verbs for stative verbs, adjectives and nouns entail perfecting the second language student writing skills.

Garin S.V. The ancient thought and analytic philosophy: Porphyry’s logic of predication in the light of Russell’s type theory

The article deals with some aspects of Porphyry’s logical theory of predication within the context of Russell’s type theory. The author considers kindred problematic issues of some ancient logical traditions and modern analytic philosophy. The Porphyry’s concept of universal predication is compared with the Russell’s doctrine of types. The work has shed some light on the number of unexplored aspects of Porphyry’s logic. The article focuses on the awakening of academic interest to the logical ideas of Porphyry. 

Garin S.V., Spasov S.V. Ammonius Hermiae and the grammatical aspects in Aristotle’s logic

The article deals with logical and grammatical aspects of Aristotle’s “Categories” within the framework of the anonymous “Commentary” attributed to Ammonius Herminae. Grammatical backgrounds for Aristotelian doctrine of homonyms are revealed. The paper describes the phenomenon of Attic figures (σχῆμα Ἀττικόν) and Attic syntax (Αττική Σύνταξη) in terms of relationship between subject and predicate considered by Ammonius in his “Commentary”.

Horokholinska I.V. The ways of religion in contemporary society: axiological choice as an existential act

The author analyses the modern culture conceptions of culture both as an era of secularization and as the problem of identity of modern person, the system of the value orientations choices. The article contains the reflection of the meaning of the basic matrix of axiological quest in a secular and/or post-secular society. The materials of the articles examine not only a question of religious consciousness level, but also its specific forms in the postmodern era, its relations with the modern forms of culture.

Linchenko A.A. The politics of memory as a factor of social transformation

The article deals with the problem of determining the place and importance of the politics of memory as one of dimensions of symbolic politics and a factor of social transformation. It reveals the role of memory in political framework of the institutional, regulatory, functional, communicative, cultural and ideological levels. The role and importance of the politics of memory are discussed in the context of the specificity of value systems of stable and transitional periods of social development. The value and opportunities of the politics of memory as conditions for the formation and implementation of multidirectional memory have been analysed.
